WHAT IS CODEX OR "FOOD GRADE DIATOMACEOUS EARTH?
For D.E. to be called "Codex," it must meet the following requirements:

These Recommended portions are based on the many testimonials, and any adjustments to these portions can
be made based on your own experience and the weight of the animal. Our DE is GRAS (Generally Regarded as Safe by the FDA).
This product is a feed additive for use as an anti-caking agent. It is regulated under the Canadian Food Inspection Agency
for this purpose and the recommended rate is not to exceed 2% of the total diet.
- Small Dog (poodle) - 1/2 tsp per day. Dogs under 50 lbs.
2 teaspoons. Dogs over 50 lbs. 1 Tablespoon. Dogs over 100 lbs. 2 Tablespoons
- Cat - 1 tsp per day. (Kittens 1/2 teaspoon)
- Beef Cattle - 2% of total weight of dry ration
- Dairy Cattle - 2% of total weight of dry ration
- Calf - 4 grams in morning milk per calf
- Horse - 2% in daily feed ration
- Chicken - up to 5% in feed
- Hogs - 2% of weight in feed ration
- Sheep - up to 2% in ground grain
- Goats - up to 2% in ground grain

Diatomaceous earth (DE) Fossil Shell Flour has been reported in scientific literature to
absorb methyl mercury, E. coli, endotoxins, viruses (including poliovirus), organophosphate pesticide residues, drug residues, and protein,
perhaps even the proteinaceous toxins produced by some intestinal infections. Pyrethroid insecticide residues probably
also bind to diatomaceous earth, since pyrethrins from Chrysanthemum flowers bind to and are stabilized by this material.
The only brand of pure DE currently recommended is from Perma Guard. Perma Guard’s Fossil Shell Flour has been approved by
the FDA (as a 2% by dry weight food additive, as an anti-caking agent, or as a grain storage additive).
